It was pretty hardcore painting this metal contain It was pretty hardcore painting this metal container, South facing, no shade in 35 degree heat. So much of the time it was too hot to make decisions. The mural is part of a great project by the biodiversity team at Merthyr council who are a lovely bunch. Committed, visionary and good fun to work with. The work is taking place in Teddington field in Cefn, Merthyr. Big snakes, big fox, giant ants and now some whopping great mushrooms. #streetart #muralist #biodiversity #mushrooms

Such a brilliant day @theforkandtune for #randomha Such a brilliant day @theforkandtune for #randomhands in Cwmcarn. A brilliant event organised by the unflappable @uncle_matts_face_painting I had a great time chatting to everyone and seeing a superb mix of artwork. This design is the guardian of the forest. He's trying not to lose his mind as the flames and sparks ride about him. I actually pictured him fiercely angry, furious or in pain, but ended up giving him a stoic demeanor. Sort of hoping that he'll come through this awful period without to much permanent damage. #streetart #greenman
I'm going to make a proper post about this soon. H I'm going to make a proper post about this soon. However in the meantime here are some bullet points. • this was a commission by Newport council. A small job to bring colour and joy into the park. Thanks to Paul Macey for trusting in me again. • I worked with pupils from Pill Primary to design the mural. We went out with hand lenses, iPads and jars to collect and photograph interesting bits of nature that we could find. I wanted them to examine plants in detail to see the amazing structures, colours and textures growing all around them. It was a lovely workshop full of exploration and discovery. • The images may look pretty surreal, glowing on the wall. But every image came from what grows in the park. They come from my photos which I have collaged and adapted and redrawn using Procreate on the iPad. • I've been a full time artist for 30 years in Newport. I spend my life honing my skills - drawing, painting, experimenting with composition and colours. I want to paint and make amazing things, especially for the people of Newport. • I love painting in Pill. I meet so many people of all ages, creeds and colours who stop to chat. • Some people tell me that Pill doesn't deserve this type of thing, that the place should be torn down (genuinely people tell me this). Go and chat to some people on the street and see how many happy people are just getting on with their lives. • if you're one of the few people that can't see the point of the value of this then I genuinely feel sorry for you. Were you always this miserable? Can you pinpoint the moment that joy left your life? • the money could never have been spent on potholes or fighting immigration. • No it isn't graffiti, yes I do use spray cans, yes it is my job, yes I do get paid, no the kids won't wreck it (they've not done it to the others) Well that was a long post, for such a dumb video! #muralpainting #pillgwenlly #prideinplacenewport #natureartist

Here's a quick reveal of the finished project in L Here's a quick reveal of the finished project in Liswerry. In partnership with Tanio, Hale construction and Hedyn. With support from the local councillors too. Designed with help from the community and through workshops in Lliswerry comp. Input from lots of locals and people passing by changed the composition as it developed. #streetart #muralist #lliswerry #communityarts
